I recently was asked what my favorite movie was.... I love Shag!!! This is one of the best chick flicks ever!!! It's about 4 girlfriends in the summer of 1963 hanging out in myrtle beach. Check out this awesome trailer!

One of thedairymaid's readers sent me this information about "SHAG":
"I stumbled across you blog, The Dairy Maid. I am from SC and lived during the time portrayed in the movie. The shag is a dance we do in the southeast. As a matter of fact the shag is South Carolina's State Dance. The dance was supposed to have been originated at Ocean Drive which is now North Myrtle Beach. Today this area of the Grand Strand is home to the shag and we have several events during the year that draws over 20,000 shaggers to the beach. We have even formed shag clubs that are throughout SC, NC, Virginia, Georgia and other parts of the southeast. The shag dance is only popular in the southeast and we do the dance to what we call "beach music" which is really rhythm & blues.
Thought you might want to know where the name of the move came from and how huge the shag is in the southeast."
So cool!!! ...Thanks Duke!! Duke is a pro-"shagger" and used to be a lifeguard back in the day when shagging was in it's prime :-)
