On my way back from Australia, I had a lay over in Figi. Here are some fun snaps that I took. I was there only for 1/2 day, but I tried a made the best of it and see some of the islands!! The locals that I talked to were great! I would love to go back again sometime and get the full Figi experience!
...and yes I did sit in that hammock for about an hour!!! it was great!
The surf retro post right before this post inspired me to put some more up. My biggest dream was to be in a "Roxy" ad when I was about the age of 12 to about hum... now :-) I am always still inspired when I see Roxy ad's!! I just want to dream and be in one! The girls always look so "surfy" and trendy. They are so tomboy, but so girly at the same time!! Love it!
Love these retro surf shots taken for Cynthia Rowley for Roxy. The designer is rumored to surf herself. She teamed up with Roxy to do a line this spring that will be sold exclusively at Barneys New York. Gosh, I would love to have the line in my closet!!!
My beautiful friend Chelle is getting married this spring. Chelle and I went to Point Loma University together!! Take a look at the video below. Her talented fiance makes very rad videos! Click HERE & HERE for more info on "Flicker Films"
Tonight I was driving and I heard one of my favorite Arcade Fire songs. I checked my ipod and realized it was the song called Haiti. It made me think about whats going on there right now. It seems so far away, but in reality....it isn't. That's whats sad. It's really close. We can be anywhere in the world in less than 24 hours. Isn't that weird? There is so much poverty there. I heard a fact that over 10% of the people there are orphans! Nuts! I found this video of pre-earthquake Haiti. The people in the video are beautiful. The photo above kills me. How intense is this!!! Breaks my heart. I guess I am sharing with you because I feel convicted. I am so accumulated with myself ALL the time. I am convicted because it's a struggle to pray for these people, when I find myself only praying for the things I want. Forgive me God! May God heal the people and country of Haiti, but also open the eyes & hearts of those in the world (like mine) who need a reality check of what really matters. Photo via boston
One day in San Diego I was picking up the girl I nanny for from her school. I noticed that they totally revamped the whole school and redesigned it. It was a beautiful! I discovered Lake Flato architects was responsible for the new modern looking school. Here is some awesome photos of their portfolio! Their goal is to have what they design partner with the environment. The result is always something beautiful!
Here are my favorite dress pics from the 2010 SAG awards!!! My Favorite goes to Toni Collette's beautiful gown by Rafael Cennamo. She is glowing in the detailed beaded bodice!!
This is a blog about Me (Marissa) & the things that I like. This is my creative outlet! The dairymaid is one of my nicknames. It started back when I was a little girl, growing up on a dairy farm in central California. There was something so special about the simple corn fields across the street. I loved it, but craved the blue of the ocean! After living in Southern California and working in the fashion Industry, I am now in a constant pursuit of a creative adventure, but I find myself consistently appreciated the simple life of the dairymaid within me :-) Currently I just finished up working and traveling the world on a yacht. Now I am in Australia, traveling and shooting photos.
.... On this blog I will update you with my photography and findings on art, design, travel, fashion, music, ideas, recipes, quotes, goals, love, notes, desires and other things!! Basically anything that I LOVE!!! Enjoy my friends. Feel free to leave comments!!
